55-year-old woman had been hiding her three children at home for 11 years in the Chelyabinsk region’s Ust-Katav. The woman committed suicide after the children had escaped.
Dead body of the woman has been found in the burnt down detached house. At the present time, it is known that it was her who set the fire. After that, she committed suicide, report the local media.
It is noted that at that moment, her three children - including two daughters aged 20 and 14, and a 15-year-old son - were at the police. They had escaped the mother’s house the day before. The media report that the woman had not let them leave the house for 11 years. No one - including neighbors, child protection services, the department of education, and a neighborhood police inspector - allegedly knew about their existence. The junior child only was under the patronage of a hospital until he turned 11 months, but no one gave a rush after he disappeared.
According to a newspaper Ust-Katavskaya, the day before, the woman contacted law enforcement herself. She reported about disappearance of her children. Later, all of them were found, however they were not returned to the family straight away - “until the circumstances are clarified.”
Later, it became known that the children - including the grown daughter - had been isolated from society and had not been let go outside. The younger children did not go to school. The woman taught them herself.
The elder daughter said that she kept in touch with the ‘outer world’ on the low. The children could not stand this kind of care and escaped, report the media. The mother committed suicide following the escape.
