At about 4 am, the animal shelter Schastlivy drug (Happy Friend) on the Nizhnyaya Mnevniki Street caught fire. Half of the building, as well as several temporary pens were destroyed. Not far from the burned walls, the shelter’s owners found a canister “for of something inflammable,” Vechernyaya Moskva reports.

It is unknown how many of the missing animals has died. One dog, for example, returned after some time. In total, the shelter had 40 dogs, as well as yaks, goats, and ducks. About 20 animals were saved by worker Sukhrob Mudhzinov.
