Mercedes rams police car in Moscow; driver detained after chase and shootout
The incident occurred on Tuesday night.
Policemen engaged in a shootout trying to detain a traffic violator driving a Mercedes, who wanted to escape the chase downtown Moscow. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, August 15, on Novozavodskaya Street, TASS reported citing the press service of the Moscow Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The driver got the inspectors’ attention when he crashed into a fence that had been installed for repair work. When asked to get out of the car and show his papers, the driver was rude and tried to get away. Despite the police officers were able to block the car of the offender after the chase, he tried to ram the service car.
The officers had to use the service weapon and shot into one of the Mercedes wheels to stop the car.
"Administrative violation reports were made against both the driver and the passenger under Art. 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses ("Failure to Follow a Lawful Order of a Police Officer"), the agency's source said.
The detention is related to the investigation into the abduction and murder of Tatyana Sidorova, a deputy of the Ramenskoye District Legislature, and three members of her family, which occurred back in 2012.
