Version: Reason for politician Kotler’s suicide might be governmental reshuffle
People close to Kotler suggested that weakening of positions of Mikhail Abyzov could influence him.
The main version of the Member of United Russia’s Supreme Council Yuri Kotler's death is suicide. A Winchester gun was found near the body; inroad traces were not found. Investigators continue to work at the scene.
As The CrimeRussia previously wrote, in early May the court declared Kotler bankrupt in a claim of 48.8 million rubles (785.000 USD) filed by VTB Bank. A suicide note points out that the reason for this decision was a family conflict.
However, as MK writes, the reform of the government might be the reason for Yuri Kotler's suicide. A graduate of the Moscow State University department of journalism worked as a journalist in economic outlets for a long time. Later, he was appointed a press secretary in state structures. He started his political career during the first election campaign of Vladimir Putin in 1999, as the head of the press service and advisor to the chairman of the Council for Strategic Development.
He also was a member of United Russia's Supreme Council and was close to the Open Government of Mikhail Abyzov, who put on the back foot after the reshuffle in the government.
The Ural District Military Court in Yekaterinburg continues the trial of the high-profile case of the Tyumen "FSB gang", whose members are accused of committing a series of serious crimes. The CrimeRussia analyzed the course of the investigation, and also found out some details and circumstances of shocking episodes of crimes committed by “killers in epaulets.”
