Lynching of Arkhangelsk resident occurred because of post on social networks
Residents of the neighborhood organized a rally in support of the detained “people's avengers.”
A resident of Arkhangelsk was tied with a tow rope to a lamp post and beaten because he fit the description of a maniac. Shortly before the lynching, the signs of a man who committed several robberies against women were published on the Internet. At the same time, according to the Investigative Committee, neither photographs nor the snapshot of the wanted person were published.
Four local residents came to a friend whom they considered to be the criminal. Since there is no MIA department in their area, they decided to punish the robber on their own. Threatening him with a knife, they dragged him out of the apartment, threw him into the trunk of their car and took him to Mira Street in the Tsiglomen District, where they tied him to the lamp post and began to beat him.
The punishment took place in front of other local residents, including children. Some tried to reason the men and asked to call the police, others did not want to get involved with the self-appointed judges. The locals write on social networks that those who suffered from the attacks of the unidentified robber did not recognize the beaten man.
As a result, the police detained the initiative four. The investigating authorities initiated a criminal case. The residents of Tsiglomen organized a rally in support of the detainees.
