“Like in Beslan.” Kerch college director talks about attack
The head of the institution left shortly before the incident.
Olga Grebennikova, the director of the Kerch Polytechnic College, compared the shooting and the explosion at her institution with the terrorist attack in Beslan. In a telephone conversation with a friend, the director said that she had left for the opening of WorldSkills just before the incident.
“Exactly five minutes after my departure, they broke in, set off [an explosive], [as a result of which] all the windows flew out, blew up the hall, after [which] ran and threw some explosive bags, then ran with machine guns, opened classrooms and killed everyone they could find,” says Grebennikova, who composed the picture of what happened according to rumors.
Today, on October 17, student Vladislav Roslyakov, 18, started a shooting in the college. At the same time, an explosion took place in the building. As a result of the incident, at least 18 people died, according to the latest data, 40 were injured, 10 of whom are in grave condition and cannot be identified, RIA Novosti reports. Roslyakov, on whom a whole arsenal of weapons was found, committed suicide.
In the Crimea, mourning has been declared on October 18-20. People with flowers and candles are already gathering near the college. Rescuers, doctors and psychologists, as well as ministers of health and education, flew to Kerch.
Businessman Mikhail Derbenev’s death year ago and "Tyumen-Sevastopol" partnership: where’s the link?
In early June last year, 40-year-old Director of the state-owned unitary enterprise Proekt Razvitiya Balaklavy ('Balaklava Development Project') Mikhail Derbenev was found dead in his Sevastopol apartment. He died under mysterious circumstances, and his death was preceded by a scandal about 380 million rubles ($5.9 mln) from budget of Yugra that disappeared in offshores in Cyprus and Seychelles through OOO Lloyd-Patterson, the founder of which he is still him. The CrimeRussia was figuring out what could have caused the businessman’s death, what is the connection between Tyumen, Yugra, Sevastopol and Karachay-Cherkessia, how the governor Ovsyannikov develops Balaklava (and does he?) and why the head of the Ministry of Construction Vladimir Yakushev and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin have been spoted in this story.
