Lecturer at St. Petersburg State University Sokolov admits to killing a girl after dismembered body found in his apartment
The deceased was his girlfriend.
St. Petersburg State University teacher Oleg Sokolov, detained after trying to drown a bag with severed female hands, admitted to killing a young girl.
Sokolov said that he was dating the girl he killed, Ren TV reports. A quarrel led to the murder.
Law enforcement authorities check whether the deceased girl was his student. The identity of the murdered has not yet been established.
On Saturday morning, police detained Sokolov, who was trying to drown severed female hands, on the Moika River embankment in St. Petersburg. The detainee was taken out of the water with severe hypothermia, after which he was hospitalized. A traumatic gun was found in the 63-year-old teacher’s backpack.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Murder. A search began in the teacher’s apartment; as a result, a female body, a head, and a bloodied saw were found.
