Law enforcers: Ex-Roscosmos head's suicide version possible
Vladimir Evdokimov has died of three cut-stab wounds to the neck and heart area in a detention center cell.
The investigation believes the version about suicide of ex-CEO for Quality and Reliability Control of Roscosmos State Corporation Vladimir Evdokimov in a cell of the pre-trial detention center No. 5 on Vyborgskaya Street (SIZO-5) in Moscow is not impossible. This was reported to TASS by sources in law enforcement structures.
In particular, it became known that Evdokimov's body was found at 4 o'clock in the morning in a bathroom of a cell, where 11 prisoners were held along with him. It is reported that the bathroom does not fall into the surveillance zone of the CCTV cameras installed in the remand center.
It was previously reported that there had been several shallow stab wounds on Evdokimov's body, which does not exclude the version that the prisoner could have inflicted the wounds himself. Two stab wounds were inflicted to the heart area and one to the neck. The murder weapon – a knife – has been seized and sent for examination. Meanwhile, according to Kommersant’s source, close to the family of the deceased, yesterday Vladimir Evdokimov was talking with relatives on the phone at around 21:00, and showed no signs of depression or panic state.
The ICR Investigations Directorate in Moscow has initiated a criminal case into the murder. Let us recall that the Roskosmos top manager was arrested in December on suspicion of swindling in the amount of 200 million rubles ($3,495,400). According to the investigation, the money had been embezzled from Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG JSC.
The city police detained two officers of the Russian FSB and the deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the North-East Administrative District Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia for Moscow, who are suspected of bribe-taking.
