Kokorin's lawyer appeals to Moscow City Court with request to cancel arrest
The chosen measure of restraint, according to the lawyer, is usually applied to hooligans with a previous conviction.
The Moscow City Court has registered a complaint of lawyer Oleg Popov against the decision of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow over the arrest of footballer Alexander Kokorin. The defender asks the presidium to appoint a softer preventive measure, not related to deprivation of liberty, TASS reports.
“The arrest is rarely elected under article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Hooliganism), mainly if the defendant has already been convicted,” Popov explained.
According to the lawyer, domestic fights are often qualified as beatings. This article does not provide for arrest. Also, Popov said that the FC Zenit is ready to go bail for Kokorin in the event of his release.
Alexander and Kirill Kokorins, Pavel Mamayev and Alexander Protasovitsky were arrested until December 8 on charges of hooliganism and beatings of Channel One host Olga Ushakova's driver Solovchuk, head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Pak and Director General of NAMI Sergey Gaisin.
