Khabib Nurmagomedov calls for punishment of policemen who killed father of two-time MMA champion
According to the athlete, the siloviki deserve the most severe punishment.
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has commented on the death of the father of two-time MMA champion Magomed Yunusilau at the hands of police officers. According to Khabib, the siloviki deserve the most severe punishment.
“I do not want to criticize, insult, or hurt anyone, but how can a person be beaten to death, and it was done by law enforcers. If a man violated something, there is a law under which he is held accountable; it doesn’t say we have to beat him to death! People who enforce the law must set the example. I hope the criminals will be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” Khabib said.
He wished Magomed Yunusilau patience, noting that parents are the most precious thing in one’s life.
As previously reported by The CrimeRussia, the blatant incident took place in Moscow region’s Orekhovo-Zuevo on April 11. Three police officers began to beat 46-year-old Sulli Yunusilau in front of dozens of passersby. The man tried to escape by running into the pharmacy, but the police went after him and continued the beating.
Doctors diagnosed Sulli with an open head injury. He died in hospital. A criminal case under two articles has been initiated: Intentional Infliction of Grave Injury to Health and Exceeding Official Powers with the Use of Violence.
Currently, two police officers are under house arrest, and the third one, who is the alleged instigator of the conflict, has been arrested for two months. The athlete has yet to comment on the situation surrounding his father.
