Kamchatka military discard and drown in swamp ammunition worth $20k
Investigators qualify this incident as Deliberate destruction of military property.
The management of one of the military units of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka region has got rid of ammunition, drowning it in the swamp, to create the appearance of conducting ‘high-quality’ classes at the shooting range. As a result, ammunition for grenade launchers, small arms, and combat vehicles has been drowned. The damage is estimated at more than a million rubles.
“In order to create the appearance of quality classes, the deputy commander of the military unit instructed his subordinate servicemen to include information about the issuance of an overestimated amount of ammunition, which was actually unused during training, in the transfer sheets. Then it was taken out of the military firing range and thrown into a swamp,” a Military Prosecutor's Office representative said.
According to the documents seized from the military unit, the ammunition was discarded.
Investigators qualify this incident as Deliberate destruction of military property. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
