Kabardino-Balkaria: head of social movement detained, drugs found on him

The police have stopped his car on highway.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, one of the heads of the social movement Khabze, Martin Kochesoko, has been detained. The organization’s office has been searched.

According to Kavkazsky Uzel, unconfirmed reports say Kochesoko is in a pre-trial detention center; he is charged with storage of prohibited substances. As reported by Alixandzinad via Telegram, Kochesoko's car was stopped on the M29 highway. A bag with narcotic substanes was found on him during search.

Earlier, Kochesoko said that local authorities paid a visit to his parents because of his professional activities and advised him to “slow down the activity.” The day before, a round table on the problems of federalism was held.

Khabze deals with the preservation of the Circassian language and culture and organizes horse marches in memory of the victims of the Caucasian War. In the autumn of 2018, Kochesoko took part in the equestrian campaign in memory of the 310th anniversary of the Battle of Kanzhal, which turned into riots.

The reason for the interethnic conflict in Kendelen was the refusal of Balkarian residents to let the Kabardians climb the Mount Kanzhal in honor of the victory of the Kabardians in the Battle of Kanzhal. Siloviki had to intervene in the situation.
