Izhevsk: Police officer shot bicyclist who attacked him with knife
Previously convicted resident of Izhevsk attacked the police officer with a knife, wounding him in the arm and thigh.
According to the MIA press service, in the evening of May 19, employees of the patrol and inspection service stopped a cyclist on Dzerzhinsky Street. The officers checked the bicycle’s serial number, which revealed that it was on the wanted list.
After this, the attacker took out a knife and attacked the police officer, stabbing him to the thigh and arm. Then the law enforcer used his service weapon. The offender died in an ambulance. The policeman was hospitalized.
Acting Minister of Internal Affairs in Udmurtia ordered to conduct an official check into the incident. A criminal case under part 1 of Art. 318 (Use of Violence Against a Representative of the Power) of the Russian Criminal Code has been initiated.
