Italy detains two Russians for illegal conveyance of migrants

Two Russian citizens were detained in Italy on suspicion of organizing the illegal conveyance of migrants, Italian agency Ansa reports. Suspects are men 43 years and 25 years old; their names are not revealed. The Russians attempted to hide from the police in a hotel in the city of Melissa but were detained after they produced false documents.
Representatives of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Palermo do not yet have information about the detention of Russian citizens, TASS quotes a diplomatic mission.
Sailing boat with 50 refugees of Kurdish origin stranded near Melissa beach on January 10. Residents and the Mayor of the city were involved in the rescue operation. Migrants were provided with a hotel so that they could dry off and change clothes. They will be taken to a special center for the identification procedure.
