ISIS prepared explosion of Russian military base in Tajikistan
A group of terrorists was detained, an enhanced security regime was introduced at the base.
In Tajikistan, 12 militants of the Islamic State terrorist group were arrested, they were planning to explode the commandant's office of the 201st Russian military base in Dushanbe. It is reported by Radio Liberty, citing a source in the State Committee for National Security of the country.
The terrorist group was headed by a resident of the city Vahdat Sukhrob, who fought on the side of the militants in Syria. During an interrogation, he told that the explosion is a sign of protest against the presence of Russian military forces in Syria and the oppression of Muslims in the Russian Federation. The militants had everything they needed to make a bomb.
The 201st Russian military base is the largest one abroad. According to the bilateral agreement, the station will be located on the territory of Tajikistan until 2042. After reports about the imminent terrorist attack on the base, an enhanced security regime was introduced, RIA Novosti reports. At the same time, there were no official reports about the arrest of militants from the special services of Tajikistan.
