Irkutsk Region: United Russia MP to be expelled from the Party for drunk driving
In the Irkutsk Region, Head of the Ust-Kutsky United Russia branch Aleksandr Malyshev caused a car accident while drunk, injuring a woman.
His fellow party members are going to expel him. The party's political council is to hold a meeting on the issue on June 5.
The accident happened on June 1, according to a pre-trial investigation. The drunk MP crashed into a reinforced concrete road fence. His passenger was injured as a result.
The MP crashed into the fence due to being drunk, the Irkutsk region traffic police added. As for the passenger, she was discharged from hospital after having been examined. An investigation into the accident was instituted. A proceeding decision will be taken once it is complete.
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
