Irkutsk investigators searched for serial killer involved in 11 crimes for almost 20 years
The rapist, who works as a bulldozer driver, was recognized in the Irkutsk region by a composite sketch.
The Irkutsk Investigative Committee charged a 50-year-old man with a number of crimes provided for by Art. 131 of the Criminal Code (Rape) and Art. 132 of the Criminal Code (Sexual Assault). Among the victims are 11 women, including several underage girls.
Investigators established that the maniac had been operating since 2001 for 11 years. The man with the knife took his victims to deserted places in Tulun, where he raped them and took away their personal valuables. The victims appealed to the law enforcement agencies, but the police did not assume that the individual episodes were related. Only a number of genetic forensic examinations and conclusions allowed to establish that the crimes were committed by the same person.
According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, it was possible to find the maniac only when vigilant neighbors noticed that a man living nearby looked like a person in an identikit. The suspect was a bulldozer driver from a local mine, a model family man. The wife and adult children do not believe that the breadwinner could have committed such crimes.
The suspect was taken into custody. Investigative actions aimed at collecting evidence are being conducted. The suspect is currently being checked for involvement in another 8 crimes.
Mass protest rallies have been taking place in Moscow on a regular basis since the beginning of this summer. People are protesting for lots of different reasons. However, the reaction of the law enforcement authorities is always the same: repression. What is the reason behind the brutality shown during the dispersion of mass rallies? A conscious intimidation policy or incompetence of law enforcement functionaries escalating the violence and unable to imagine the potential consequences of this?
