Investigative Committee shows how Moscow businessman fights back against extorters who claimed $300 thousand from him
The scuffle was caught by CCTV.
Moscow investigators have detained a 30-year old man on suspicion of participating in abduction of an entrepreneur and extortion of 20 million rules ($300 thousand) from him, reports the media office of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow.
The CrimeRussia had earlier reported the incident had taken place on January 20. Three unknown approached a business manager of a holding for manufacturing of special optical systems when he was at the wheel of his Porsche Cayenne.
They transferred the entrepreneur to VAZ, gained possession of his vehicle and took him to the forrest in Moscow region. They threatened him and tried to extort 20 million rules ($300 thousand) from him. After the businessman agreed to pay 1 million rubles ($15 thousand) and give them his two vehicles, he was taken back to his apartment in Moscow.
The businessman entered the garage, got into Gelandewagen and rammed through the extorters’ Zhiguli (Russian-made Fiat). After that, he opened fire on the driver. The latter was pressed in the car and shot in the leg. The others escaped in Porsche Cayenne.
After law enforcement officers arrived, the injured VAZ driver who turned out to be a native of Ukraine R. Galustyan was taken to the hospital to provide medical care. After that, he was taken to the police division for further proceeding.
At the present time, the others involved in the extortion are being searched for.
Criminal case has been launched under articles 126 and 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - Abduction committed by a group of persons by previous concert and Extortion committed by a group of persons by previous concert.
