Investigative Committee initiates case over fire on ships in Kerch Strait
The fire broke out on the ships of Tanzania during the transfer of fuel.
The investigating authorities of the Southern Investigation Department for Transport of the ICR launches a criminal case on the death of crew members of the Candy and Maestro vessels, at which a fire broke up during fuel transfer in the neutral waters of the Black Sea. According to the preliminary data, 10 people died, another 14 were saved, the press service of the department reports.
Tankers with liquefied gas, marching under the flags of Tanzania, caught fire about 6 pm on January 21, 16 miles from the coast of Krasnodar Territory at the entrance to the Kerch Strait. There were 31 people - citizens of India and Turkey. The head of the investigative department with a group of subordinates reviewed the scene.
The criminal case was initiated under part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code (Causing Death by Negligence of two or more persons).
