Inquiry officer raped in Ufa makes first appearance in court
The defendants are three high-ranking ex-law enforcers.
In Ufa, the case of rape of a 23-year-old MIA officer is being heard. The defendant in the high-profile criminal case are former high-ranking law enforcers. The victim ignored all previous requests for summons. However, she made her first appearance today.
The hearing is held in closed session, since the case concerns sexual integrity. A short video has been posted, showing the inquiry officer wearing large dark glasses quickly entering the court room, ignoring the crowds of journalists at the door. One of them asked why the girl ignored requests for summons for so long and decided to come today. The question was left without an answer.
Previously, lawyers of the siloviks reported that the victim did not attend the previous hearing that took place on August 6 due to the poor health of her lawyer.
As previously reported by The CrimeRussia, the incident occurred during the night of October 31. According to the investigation, two colonels and a police mayor, who were drunk, raped their colleague, 23-year-old graduate of the Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The victim is a daughter of Deputy Head of the National Guard in Bashkortostan, Irek Sagitov.
A criminal case was initiated after the girl filed a statement of rape with the Investigative Committee. 50-year-old Chief of the Police Department of Karmaskaly District Salavat Galiev, 34-year-old Head of the MIA Department for Migration Pavel Yaromchuk, and 51-year-old Chief of Ufa District Police Eduard Matveev were detained in Ufa. The defendants do not plead guilty.
On November 1, all three of them were dismissed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for misconduct discrediting the uniform; they were arrested by court the following day. They were placed under house arrest later during the investigation.
