Ingush man prosecuted for kidnapping woman for marriage

The man forcibly kept the victim in his car.

A criminal case on abduction (part 1 of Art. 126 of the Criminal Code) was brought against a 23-year-old resident of Ingushetia, according to the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The man kidnapped a 24-year-old woman in the city of Malgobek, forcing her into a Mercedes. The criminal held her kidnapped illegally with plans to marry her.

It was the woman’s father who reported the abduction to the law enforcement authorities.

 “The special battalion of the patrol service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Malgobek started search activities immediately; the car was pulled over on the highway between Sagopshi and Gayrbek-Yurt and the 23-year-old resident of Nazran was detained,” the MIA officers said commenting on the incident.

The police interrogated the woman and handed her over to her family.

The 23-year-old man now faces up to five years in prison.
