Influential family of pedophile gang leader bought prison underboss’ protection
There are trials the significance of which is beyond the scope of a particular judicial decision. Not only they determine the degree of guilt of the accused and sentence them to a specific punishment. They also, by their verdicts, demonstrate the moral and ethical climate of the whole society, its value system in a given historical period, and influence the motion vector of the whole country. The case heard today in Rostov-on-Don is one of them. On its outcome, generally speaking, depends what kind of society we live in.
Several years ago, the mainstream media reported about the monstrous crime committed against a minor Ingush boy, whom a gang pedophiles had been raping for a long time. The perverts, all the men save one, were caught and isolated from society. Recently in the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, hearings on this high-profile case have begun. On the dock, there was leader of the pedophile gang Abubakar Polonkoyev, who previously had already been sentenced to 16 years under the Art. 134 of the Russian Criminal Code (sexual intercourse and other sexual acts with a person under sixteen years of age). Now, he is charged with Art. 135 of the Criminal Code (Sexual Abuse) and Art. 111 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm). In addition, Polonkoyev is accused of "organizing an illegal armed formation or participation in it" (Art. 208 of the Criminal Code). Along with Polonkoyev, three of his accomplices – M.R. Aushev, A.U. Nagoyev, and I.I. Dakiev went to trial. Another culprit managed to escape from justice and is now, according to some, on the territory of Kazakhstan, and to others – died during the investigation.
Defendant M.R. Aushev
According to a source of the CrimeRussia, the investigation of this high-profile case, especially with respect to Polonkoyev’s accomplices, was strongly delayed; testimony and evidence has been disappearing. Each of the defendants has influential relatives among the officials, judges, and businessmen in corruption-prone clans of Ingushetia. However, the multi-volume criminal case has finally reached the servants of Themis.
At the hearing in the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, judge Vyacheslav Korsakov denied all the petitions filed by the defendants’ lawyers. The application which demanded to cancel the results of a polygraph test, where gang leader Abubakar Polonkoyev listed all his partners in this vile crime, was also refused. Earlier, the lawyer has already tried to exclude the polygraph text, which could result in the case falling apart.
As the sources familiar with the situation reported to the CrimeRussia, Polonkoyev, who received a 16-year term, is now in one of the Krasnodar colonies, where he is held in comfortable conditions. According to our sources, his family ‘bought’ the so-called prison ‘beholder’ nicknamed Koba, who provided the pedophile with security and guaranteed him safety. By the way, Koba’s actions must have caused outrage among the prisoners, but we still have not heard of any disturbances in connection with this situation.
Polonkoyev feels quite freely not only in the prison, but also in the courtroom, where he was delivered under escort. So, at the last hearing, he and his cronies shouted threats and insults to the injured party, and their actions were not suppressed.
Defendant I.I. Dakiev
There are other oddities in the case. And they relate to, in particular, the line of conduct of the victim child’s father Ayub Hizriev, who actively uses the valuable guidance of the lawyer Gorchkhanova representing interests of a deceased gang member.
On January 27, 2017, Hizriev participated at the hearing by means of a video conference from Grozny, apparently, with a purpose to ruin the case. He provided the investigation with a certificate from of a Grozny doctor and ultrasound test results which showed that no violence had been committed over a child (at that, there were official examinations which confirmed the violence carried out by the investigation). Then, Hizriev even stated that the boy was not his own son.
All these oddities came against the background of Gorchkhanova’s earlier statements that "the case of pedophiles will not reach the court, because a lot of money has been received by all the prosecution and investigation offices." However, as we can see, the case is after all on the judge’s desk.

It is to be recalled that earlier Hizriev has already gave confused and divergent testimonies in the case and even renounced his own words. All his actions can be explained by information we previously received that the patrons of the defendants simply bought him. He, in turn, was able to convince the child to say to the camera that he was not raped. The recording was transferred to the pedophiles’ relatives. The father spent the money he received to improve living conditions, while in his testimonies he stated that he agreed to take the money from pedophiles to buy weapons. Subsequently, Hizriev began to give up his testimony under the pretext of bad knowledge of the Russian language and that he had not seen the documents.
Also, sources report that the North Caucasus Military Court regularly receives phone calls from high-ranking persons in Ingushetia, in particular, from the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic Ibrahim Fargiyev with a purpose to influence the outcome of the trial. The prosecutor’s personality also raises questions. Major of Justice Ivan Rasskazov was appointed by the Prosecutor's Office for the North Caucasus Federal District and is a direct subordinate to the notorious Deputy Prosecutor General for the North Caucasus Federal District Ivan Sydoruk, who for a long time dragged his feet to approve of the indictment in the case. At the same time, the source of the CrimeRussia says that Rasskazov has become Sydoruk’s subordinate not so long ago, is a civil servant interested in the process of objectivity and with his own principles.

In conversations with the people living in the country, particularly in the town of Karabulak, we found out that other children were subjected to the gang’s violence as well. But everyone is silent and afraid to report the gang. Those who today sit on the dock also hoped on fear. The boy’s relatives are still forced to hide from the constant pressure from the defendants.

They have their verdicts demonstrate the moral and ethical climate of the whole society, its value orientation in a given historical period, influenced by the vector motion of the whole country. The case considered today in Rostov-on-Don - from the same series history. From its outcome, by and large, it depends on what kind of society we live.
Former traffic cop Mikhail Saplinov was sentenced to life in prison for murdering two young women. The trial was held in the Belgorod region in February. The defendant pleaded guilty. However, he refused to share where he buried the victims…or could not do that. The 2015 trial of Vladimir Koen hailing from Vladivostok made the headlines. He was given a 9-year custodial sentence for murdering his ex-girlfriend that had gone missing in 2011. Her body has never been found. The CrimeRussia tells a story of two murder convicts who could be innocent.
Last year's wave of governors' resignations, which temporary termination was announced in November 2017 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, will resume soon after March 18. The CrimeRussia figures out who will lose governor's seat.
