RAMT director interrogated as part of embezzlement case in Gogol Center

Investigators interrogated director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT) Sofia Apfelbaum on the case of embezzlement of state funds, upon which searches at artistic director of the Gogol Center Kirill Serebrennikov were held on Tuesday, Interfax reports.
According to the agency, Apfelbaum left the ICR branch, refusing to comment on the situation.
Earlier, RBC reported citing lawyer of the human rights organization "Rus Sidyashaya" Alexey Fedyarov that the director of RAMT was being interrogated. In turn, TASS quoted the source saying that Apfelbaum was summoned as a witness, since she previously held the post of the Head of the Department of State Support for Arts and Folk Art of the Ministry of Culture.
About searches at Apfelbaum it became known earlier on May 23. On Tuesday morning, searches began at Gogol Center and its head, director Kirill Serebrennikov, who was also sent for questioning.
The ICR earlier said that searches were related to the criminal case of embezzling a large sum from the budget allocated in 2014 to the nonprofit organization Seventh Studio. The founder of this company is Serebrennikov. According to investigators, the case is related to the theft of 200 million rubles ($3.5m).
Lawyers of Oleg Korshunov, who is charged with a large fraud in organizing the production of footwear for prisoners, do not see corpus delicti in his case. The prisoners did get their shoes, and the difference in the cost of footwear made from leather and split leather is about 10%.
