ICR initiates two criminal cases against Chekhov policemen
The suspects allegedly received money from local entrepreneurs.
The Moscow Region investigators from initiated two criminal cases over receiving bribes (section b of part 5 of Article 290 CCRF) by the head of the department for combating organized crime in the MIA department for Chekhov and the senior inspector of the said department. Both are suspected of receiving money from local entrepreneurs, the ICR’s Main Investigative Directorate for the Moscow Region reported.
According to investigators, in December 2018, the head of the department received 90,000 rubles ($ 1,350) from a local businessman who wanted to avoid criminal liability for hooliganism. According to the investigators, the suspect destroyed a video footage that proved the entrepreneur’s guilt. The latter participated in a fight in an Internet cafe, the news agency Moskva explains.
The senior police inspector was suspected of receiving 200,000 rubles ($ 3,000) in the end of November 2018 for patronizing the same entrepreneur. In particular, for the “failure to conduct audits of the financial and economic activities of the Internet café belonging to him.”
The investigators and employees of the MIA’s Internal Security Department conducted searches at the suspects’ workplaces and apartments. The head of the department and his four subordinates were detained to testify.
