ICR: contract murder is main version of Volkov’s death
However, the version of robbery has not been ruled out.
Russian Investigative Committee sees a contract killing as the main version behind the death of MIA Construction Department Chief Nikolai Volkov.
"Contract killing is one of the main versions and it must have something to do with his job," said Yulia Ivanova, the spokesman for Moscow Investigative Committee Main Department. “We do not rule out robbery either, though”, she added.
According to investigators, on 27 March 2017 unknown persons attacked the man of 42 and took his bag. Then the thugs shot a few times at the victim who died at the spot.
"As ordered, the criminal case has been passed for further investigation to ICR Office for Investigating Particularly Important Cases in Moscow," the department added.
We should remind that the criminals threw Nikolai Volkov’s body out of the car near house 18 on Osennyaya Street. Law enforcement officers are now looking for the car that the alleged criminals used to escape.
The Russia’s Investigative Committee central office has taken the case of former Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Marat Oganesyan for investigation. However, the St. Petersburg’s Investigative Committee dept (regional dept where the case had been investigated previously) did not find state budget damage in the Zenit Arena fraud case.
Among his accomplices are a lawyer, who presented himself as the plenipotentiary of the self-proclaimed republic in the International Criminal Court with the United Nations, and an entrepreneur, already serving a sentence for attempting to seize a building.
