“I'm shocked.” Coach and former football player Nigmatullin comments on extension of arrest term for Kokorin and Mamaev
The defense team of one of the defendants is confident that the video evidence speaks in favor of the athletes.
The prolongation of the arrest terms of Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev greatly surprised coach and former football player Ruslan Nigmatullin. He said he was sorry for the athletes and expressed confidence that they would return to the football pitch, Life reports.
“To be honest, I'm shocked. It seemed to me that two months is more than enough for them, but the court has a different opinion on this matter,” Nigmatullin said.
The coach said that the players would, of course, return to the field, but this would take time. At the same time, Nigmatullin recalled Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Eduard Streltsov, whom the court sentenced to seven years in prison for rape. After his release, Streltsov became a football player again, and after an injury he started coaching.
Alexander Kokorin’s lawyer Tatyana Stukalova called the extension of her client’s arrest a demonstrative flogging. According to the lawyer, the circumstances of the criminal case have changed in favor of the football players. We are talking about CCTV recordings. Stukalova could not give more detailed information, since she signed an NDA with the investigation.
