The video showing an unidentified driver driving around a Moscow subway and through people was published in the notorious Mazhorka_777 Instagram community. It then went viral on the social media.
A man hailing from Caucasus on either a Toyota or a Lexus drove into the crowded subway, as seen on the video. The driver discussed what was going on with a passenger sitting behind him. They suggested that people should “move away”. They discussed how they “had” to drive there, while people had to press against the wall.
It happened near the Okruzhnaya and Petrovsko-Razumovskaya metro station; local residents identified the surroundings seen on the video. They also explained that drivers had to drive through the subway due to a road being under construction near Okruzhnaya.
It remains to be known when the video was shot. It was published on the social media on April 10. sult_500 Instagram user soon deleted their account.
The driver and the passenger have not been identified. Meanwhile, the traffic police failed to tell under what law they will be prosecuted. A subway is not a pedestrian crosswalk and there is still no punishment reserved for reckless driving in the Administrative Offences Code. The MIA believes the driver could be prosecuted for “minor vandalism” (up to 15 days in jail), according to Gazeta.ru’s police source.
