Head of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Dagestan arrested for road accident with 3 victims
Kamil Abuev, according to some reports, fled the scene.
Soviet district court in Makhachkala has taken into custody up to December 20 a head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Dagestan Kamil Abuev, reports TASS with reference to a court representative.
The CrimeRussia had earlier reported that on the night of December 1, Abuev was at the wheel of Toyota Land Cruiser 200 crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a VAZ vehicle. The driver and two passengers died following the road accident.
Later, Chernovik specified that the road accident occurred at the events hall Dagestan in Babayurt settlement, and Kamil Abuev who was at the wheel fled the scene. According to Chernovik’s sources, he drew up a document related to the car accident in the name of his acquaintance by the name of Ajiev. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under item 5 of article 256 of Russia’s Criminal Code (road traffic offense, entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons).
Initially, Abuev was a defendant in the case. He says his acquaintance Ajiev was at the wheel that night. The latter confessed he had given false testimony in order for the head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate not to be convicted of a criminal offence.
According to a TASS source within law enforcement, on December 7, Abuev was fired from MIA, and detained 3 days later.
Six months ago, no one could predict the state of the MIA General Administration for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region by the time of the forthcoming elections. After the appointment of Moscow general Roman Plugin in charge of it, the St. Petersburg police has undergone significant changes. Major general of justice Oleg Antropov, Head of the Main Investigations Directorate, is ‘the last man standing’ from the old command of the MIA General Administration. Most probably, he is going to become the next victim of ‘janitor’ Plugin.
