Head of Serpukhov district Alexander Shestun detained after searches
The official is suspected of exceeding official powers.
Head of the Serpukhov district Alexander Shestun is detained after searches in his house, Interfax reports with reference to an informed source.
"Special services officers conducted a search at the office of Shestun. He is detained," the source says.
360 TV channel, citing a source close to the investigation, states that a criminal case is initiated under Article 286 of the Criminal Code (Exceeding Official Powers).
Earlier, the media reported on the visit of law enforcers to the house of Shestun about 6 am on June 13. The official's house was cordoned off, the whole family of the official was inside. Also, the street, on which the house of the district head is located, was closed. Novaya Gazeta pens referring to the press secretary of Shestun, Vlad Rusin.
Searches were held in the administration of the Serpukhov district in the spring; several officials were detained. Shestun has published a video, declaring that he got thunders.
