Head of Ministry of Emergency Situations summoned for questioning
Some media link Puchkov's questioning with the case of a fire in the Kemerovo’s Winter Cherry shopping center.
The former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Vladimir Puchkov, was summoned for questioning to the Investigative Committee of Russia, Life.ru reports citing sources.
There is no information about the case within which Puchkov was interrogated, yet, according to the reports, he is a witness in this case.
Some media link Puchkov's questioning with the case of a fire in the Kemerovo shopping center Winter Cherry which took place on March 25, 2018 and 60 people, including 41 children, dead. Rinat Yenikeyev, the head of for Supervision and Preventive Work Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, said that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a children's play area.
On the fact of the incident, large-scale inspections began which have already revealed numerous violations. At the end of July 2018, it became known that the former First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergencies, Colonel-General Sergey Shlyakov, was detained.
In May, soon after the inauguration of President Vladimir Putin, the government resigned. In the new cabinet of ministers, Vladimir Puchkov, who was minister since 2012, did not have a seat. He was replaced at the post of the former deputy director of the FSB Eugene Zinichev.
