Head of JamilCo, distributor of world's fashion brands, reportedly detained in Moscow at Interpol’s request; lawyers refute the reports
The entrepreneur Jamil Khaled, who heads the distributor company of the world famous brands Versace, DKNY, Escada, Timberland and New Balance, is to be extradited to France.
Law enforcers have detained the Head of JSC "MFK JamilCo", Jamil Khaled, at his place on Kutuzovsky Avenue in Moscow at Interpol’s request, Business FM radio reports.
Interpol representatives refused to comment on the detention of Jamil Khaled.
"Interpol never performs the arrests, police of the member countries of the organization perform the arrests in accordance with the legislation of a country," RIA Novosti quotes the words of representatives of the headquarters in Lyon. They also advised turning to Russian authorities for the relevant comments.
The Head of Legal Department of JSC “MFK JamilCo” refuted the reports, saying that “K.Jamil is not arrested in absentia by the French (or any other country) law enforcement agencies” and that the businessman was not detained in Russia or any other company. In addition, layers of the company assured that Jamil Khaled “is currently in the central office” in Moscow, and “continues to perform his duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC "MFK JamilCo".
The French police accuse the businessman of several crimes, including kidnapping and forcible detention.
The Telegram channel found out that Jamilco and his wife Miassa had a family conflict. Allegedly, they are sharing custody of their kid. It is reported that the entrepreneur will soon be extradited to France, where he is arrested in absentia.
Jamilco is the distributor of well-known world brands in Russia, including New Balance, Salvatore Ferragamo, ALDO, DKNY, Escada, Escada Juicy Couture, Timberland, Versace, and many others. Jamilco has more than 150 retail stores in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Rostov-on-Don, and more than 300 partners throughout Russia.
A federal judge other than retired Catherine Forrest will consider the case of Razhden Shulaya, who is charged with the creation of a criminal syndicate and other crimes, in the Federal District Court of the Southern District of New York.
Ismail Efendiev is suspected of exceeding authority in connection with the investigation of cases of detained earlier former First Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Aliyev and nephew of the former head of Dagestan Askhabali Abdulatipov. Searches are being conducted at Efendiev's office and house.
