“He’ll die straight away.” Mother of historian Sokolov suggests unexpected punishment for her son
Liudmila Sokolova says her son won’t survive in prison.
Mother of a historian Oleg Sokolov - who had been arrested for murder of a 24-year-old postgraduate student - has stated that her son should not be executed or placed behind bars. She says there’s a way “he’ll die straight away.”
“He should not be executed or placed behind bars. Tune him out of everything. Don’t let him work - he’ll die straight away. He won’t be able to live without it. This is inside him,” Liudmila Sokolova told Channel 5.
She confirmed the fact that her son had a conflict with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Anastasia Eshchenko. The mother says the young girlfriend went awry with Sokolov’s daughters - that was the reason why she often made scenes. The day before, the same had been stated by Sokolov himself in court. With that, the mother emphasized that she would not acquit her son and be able to live out his crime.
“We are just shocked. He is a criminal. He committed an awful crime. We won’t be able to live it out. We had always waited for great deeds from him,” Sokolova confessed.
On November 9, the professor was pulled out of the Moika River while he was trying to drown a backpack with Anastasia Eshchenko’s arms. Shortly before, he threw a suitcase with the young woman’s legs in the river. Anastasia’s head and body were found in the historian’s apartment.
Sokolov said that on that day, the young woman got into a rage, they quarrelled and he killed her. After the murder, Oleg Sokolov invited guests and drank tea near the dead body of the murdered lover. After that, he dismembered the body and tried to get rid of it.
