Drug mule cat escapes and gets replaced by similar one in court
The lawyers argue there has been an attempt to falsify evidence.
The court of Novomoskovsk (Tula region) is hearing the case of Eduard Dolgintsev who had come up with the idea to use a cat to get drugs supplied to prison No. 6, where he is held.
According to Kommersant, Dolgintsev trained the cat and passed it to his friends in the city. They allegedly planned to put a collar with a stash on the animal and release it near the prison - so that the cat would want to return home. The men were detained by police officers as soon as they approached the fence. The cat was dubbed material evidence and sent to the local pets’ corner.
The cat escaped from the pets’ corner, but the prosecution still managed to have it in court. The defendants remarked that the prosecutors’ cat was of a different color than the "drug courier cat" and their lawyers said that it was an attempt to falsify evidence, which aggravated an already serious enough violation - the loss of material evidence.
