“Germany failed 2018 WC only because they unleashed 2 world wars; souls of millions they killed seek revenge” – Russian governor
The Germany national football team came to Russia as the world champion and one of the Cup’s favorites.
Oleg Korolev, the head of the Lipetsk region, commented on the sensational elimination of the German national team from the 2018 World Cup after the group stage. The governor expressed his opinion on Twitter.
"Germany failed so miserably at the 2018 World Cup only because they had unleashed two world wars in this land and the souls of millions they killed have been seeking revenge, and always will... History and time have intervened," Korolev twitted on June 29.
Oleg Korolev, 66, has held governor’s post since April 12, 1998. He is the second longest-serving governor in Russia after Yevgeny Savchenko (Belgorod region, since December 18, 1993).
