An unexpected turn may happen in the high-profile case of the gang run by officers of the Moscow MIA Main Department’s Main Investigative Department headed by the investigator for particularly important cases Anzhela Amzina.

After the examination of the gang leader’s case file, it was found out that not all the signatures of deputy head of the Investigative Committee’s Main Investigative Department for Moscow Denis Nikandrov were authentic, Life reports. The examination revealed that 7 signatures of General Nikandrov were made by 3 different persons; the papers included the decision to conduct a preliminary investigation against the ex-investigator of the Moscow’s MIA Anzhela Amzina.

According to Amzina’s lawyer Abusupyan Gaitaev, this means that all further investigative actions are illegal and these decisions have no legal force.

The publication remarked that the transpired facts could result in the complete collapse of the case, since the signatures of the decision-makers in the criminal case were, in fact, forged. Now, the Prosecutor's Office must study the circumstances newly discovered.

Gaitaev said that the Prosecutor's Office and the ICR are resisting the findings of the examination, but the results of the handwriting examination will be forwarded to the court together with other case files.

Anzhela Amzina

We should remind that Anzhela Amzina, the former senior investigator for priority cases of the MIA 1st Investigative Division of the Main Investigative Department in Moscow, as well as her colleagues Sergey Kavun and Yevgeny Primakov, are suspected in an apartment fraud during the investigation of the criminal case against Energostroykomplekt-M. According to the case file, the investigators recognized 50 dummy persons victims in the shared construction, and later these apartments were distributed to fictitious victims.

It should be added that Deputy Head of the ICR Main Investigative Directorate in Moscow Denis Nikandrov, who supervised the investigation of the Amzina’s gang case, is currently in jail himself on suspicion of receiving a bribe from the thief in law nicknamed Shakro Molodoy. Earlier, Nikandrov's forged signatures had been found in other high-profile cases – those, investigated by operatives of 6th Investigative Division Dmitry Alferov, Stanislav Maksimov, Maksim Korostelev, as well as their counterpart from the MIA’s Main Administration of Criminal Search Sergey Abrosenko, who was accused of malfeasance.
