Four prisoners of the Matrosskaya Tishina pretrial detention center overdose

A food package cloth was soaked with a prohibited substance; two prisoners died.

In the Matrosskaya Tishina pretrial detention center, two prisoners died and another two were taken to intensive care because of a drug overdose. An unidentified psychotropic substance was impregnated with the fabric in a food package, deputy director of the institution Valery Maksimenko explained to Interfax. According to him, the tissue was moistened, the substance was squeezed out of it and injected intravenously.

“Our employees are also to blame wines – they inspect all the packages carefully, even break open cigarettes. But we don’t have a chance to detect a drug in soaked in a tissue,” Maksimenko said.

The prisoners in two cells got poisoned. Two prisoners were detained on drug trafficking charges.

The Moscow ICR’s Main Directorate launched a pre-investigation check.
