'Fixer' Zolotov repairs whole detention facility to serve his term in favourable conditions
According to Mironov, Zolotov organized the supply of construction materials, sanitary ware and energy-saving lamps to the pre-trial detention center.
Lawyer of fixer Dionisiy Zolotov, Ivan Mironov, said that his client was a 'sponsor' of major repairs on the 5th floor of the Matrosskaya Tishina detention center, around which a scandal over VIP-cells broke out. This is reported by BFM.
According to Mironov, Zolotov, who in April 2017 was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for Swindling of 150 million rubles (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code), organized the supply of construction materials, sanitary ware and energy-saving lamps to the pre-trial detention center. As a result, 10 cells were repaired. Another half of the floor is "ready for 70%". Also at the expense of Zolotov, a second checkpoint, all investigators and lawyers dream, was built; a laundry was opened on the 5th floor, it serves the whole building, new training set was purchased.
The lawyer noted that repairs in the SIZO had been going on for about six months, followed by "all state and public control organizations". At the same time, according to Mironov, the organizations "warmly welcomed" Zolotov's initiative.
The household equipment was purchased by the relatives of the prisoners, Mironov said. Acting as a sponsor of the repair, Zolotov got "the moral right to serve his term in normal conditions."
The lawyer himself recalled that he had previously been in Matrosskaya Tishina, when he was accused of involvement in the attempt on Anatoly Chubais. According to Mironov, he was "spending his term on the third floor, where there were maggots on the ceilings and 100% humidity, an intolerable stench." At the same time, there were already floors in the SIZO, where the conditions of detention were much better. Later, Mironov was acquitted in the case of an attempt on Chubais.
Another source of BFM, who wished to remain anonymous, said that Zolotov ties the scandal with VIP-cells in Matrosskaya Tishina with the arrest of Denis Nabiullin, the member of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC), on fraud charges. The 'fixer' is a witness in Nabiullin's case. According to the interlocutor of the edition, Zolotov considers publications about elite cells as the revenge of human rights defender's fellows.
The scandal of VIP-cells in Matrosskaya Tishina broke out in December 2017 after the publication of PMC deputy head Eva Merkacheva in the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. After the publication, PMC members were banned from attending Matrosskaya Tishina. As a result of the check conducted in the pre-trial detention center, the deputy head of the detention center was dismissed, and three of his employees were brought to disciplinary responsibility. The materials of the check were sent to the investigative authorities.
Tomsk investigators have filed a case on terrorism support. A woman was detained for transferring about 1 million rubles to a bankcard registered in the name of the ex-wife of an extremist of Kabardino-Balkaria.
