First in last 145 years toilet officially opened at Russian school
The school’s principal Natalia Polyakova says the construction of the toilet had been conducted for 2 months.
First in last 145 years indoor toilet has been officially opened in the Orel region’s Dolzhanovsky district-based Kozma-Demyan high school. Before that, it was an outhouse, reports the local newspaper Znamya truda on its VK page.
In her interview with Podyom, the school’s principal Natalia Polyakova says the construction of the toilet had been conducted for 2 months. The toilet is an addition to the hall with communications.
The woman notes that she worried the works wouldn’t be done before the heating season, but the workers “did everything well and quickly.” Polyakova also says there are all the amenities, including hot water, plastic windows, and shutters that can be opened. “What beauty! We’re very happy!” The principal added.
909 thousand rubles ($14 thousand) were spent on the construction of the toilet. Head of the district Boris Makashov, officials of the district administration and the school’s principal were present at the opening. The officials promised to open the same facility at Nikolsk-based school in the nearest future, as well at Evlanovsk and Alekseevsk-based schools in 2020.
Earlier, it was reported that officials solemnly opened a mortuary in Sterlitamak. First deputy head of the city’s administration Yury Trott, deputy head of the HR-department of the medical assistance organization of the Health Ministry in Bashkiria Lyutsia Akhmetova, members of the city’s and Kurultai’s council and head of the Republican bureau of the forensic investigation Aleksandra Orlovskaya took part in the opening.
