Fires in Trans-Baikal Territory destroy hundreds of residential buildings, more than 30 people injured, ICR
The local ICR’s Investigative Directorate initiated criminal cases of negligence; the damage exceeded $ 4,4 million.
The ICR’s Investigative Directorate for the Trans-Baikal Region initiated criminal cases of negligence (part 1 and part 2 of Article 293 CCRF) over the destruction of property by fires in. According to the investigators, more than 30 people and 17 settlements in which the fire destroyed hundreds of residential buildings, 13 non-residential premises, 113 private and private livestock farms and 148 outbuildings. According to preliminary estimates, the damage from the fires exceeded 280 million rubles ($ 4,4 million).
“As a result of the fires, 34 people were injured, eight of them were hospitalized, four are in grave condition. Also, the investigators found that two granaries were destroyed, as well as 320 tons of roughage, over 5600 heads of livestock, and at least six units of agricultural machinery,” the SC said.
The Investigative Directorate intends to check the work of officials responsible for the fire safety. The investigation of the case was put under the control of the Directorate’s head, Yuri Rusanov.
Since April 19 the Trans-Baikal Territory has been under a state of emergency due to wildfires. Because of the squally wind, the fire spread quickly and spread from landfills and fields to settlements. The interim minister of social security of the region, Yevgeny Kazachenko, promised to start paying one-time assistance to the injured from April 22. According to him, at least 645 people are in need of it.
