Federal Security Service exposes arms traders gangs in 32 regions

The Federal Security Service has carried out an extensive operation.

The Federal Security Service representatives have carried out extensive special operations in 32 regions in Russia. According to a message by the Service, 86 persons have been detained.

It is noted that the Service has brought to justice representatives of MIA and Rosgvardia. The detainees had dealt with modifying non-military weapon into combat models. The items were manufactured in underground workshops and sold in almost all regions around Russia.

Searches have been carried out in the places of residence of the illegal gunmakers. 197 items of fire weapon - both Russian and foreign - have been seized. With that, 2 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers RPG-26, rocket flamethrower RPO-A Shmel, fragmentation hand grenades, more than 30 kg of explosives, and more than 10 thousand bullets were found and seized from the detainees. 



As soon as expert examination is carried out, measures of restraint are going to be taken, and criminal cases - initiated under articles Illegal manufacture of weapon, Ammunition trafficking, and Illegal trafficking of explosives.
