Ex-policeman who mortally hit 26-year-old woman sentenced to 3 years' incarceration
The Belorechensky District Court of Krasnodar Krai found guilty the 27-year-old ex-policeman, who on May 14, 2017, while intoxicated, exceeded speed and hit a 26-year-old girl going along the pedestrian crossing on his Lexus RX350 car.
A former Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs officer for Kurganinsky district, who was fired from the police for defamatory reasons, was sentenced to 3 years in prison with forfeiture of the right to drive for 3 years. This was reported by the prosecutor's office of Krasnodar Krai. Also, the court granted the claim of the husband of the deceased girl. 800 thousand rubles ($13.8 thousand) were recovered from the convict in compensation for moral damage.
The culprit of the accident acknowledged the guilt and apologized to the victim. The verdict has not yet come into force.
At the end of August, another deadly road accident occurred in Krasnodar with the participation of a policeman: an officer of Patrol Guard Service in Krasnodar, turning a red light on the official UAZ, shot down a 21-year-old motorcyclist with a passenger. It is reported that the policeman did not use police lights and special signals. The collision led to the death of the motorcycle driver on the spot, and his passenger died in the hospital. After the incident, the police officer was canned from law enforcement agencies. He was prosecuted under part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Violation of Traffic Rules, which has, by negligence, entailed the death of two persons).
On September 2 Nyazepetrovsky district of the Chelyabinsk region saw a drunk former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs hitting a 42-year-old woman on a bicycle. The victim died on the spot. She had four children left. It was reported that the ex-policeman resigned from the authorities on the eve of the accident. Currently, he is held in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case was initiated under part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code (Violation of Traffic Rules committed by a person who is in a state of drunkenness has, by negligence, entailed a human death).
