Engels: FSB detains head of police department for drug control and his subordinates
Suspects could illegally threaten citizens with guns.
Officers of the FSB and the MIA’s Internal Security Service detained a police lieutenant colonel who was in charge of the department for the control of drug trafficking in the town of Engels. His deputy and operational staff are also detained. They could use guns or special equipment to threaten citizens, the press service of the regional FSB reports.
Against the suspects, a criminal case on abuse of office with the use of violence or threat of its use (paragraph “a”, “b” of part 3 of Article 286 CCRF) was initiated. The policemen face up to 10 years in prison. If their guilt is established, the officers will be fired from the bodies, and their immediate superiors will be brought to strict disciplinary responsibility.
