Employee of National Guard punished for falsely reporting criminal case against battered pregnant woman

Earlier, the National Guard officer attacked an entrepreneur, suspecting her of stealing a light bulb.

One of the National Guard officers was brought to disciplinary responsibility for a false report about the initiation of a criminal case against a resident of Irkutsk after she was attacked by her a National Guard employee. The punishment could be applied to the spokesperson of the department, Svetlana Karan, suggested the lawyer of the Public Verdict Svyatoslav Khromenkov in an interview with MediaZona.

On September 26, in the Irkutsk Leroy Merlin, security detained a pregnant businesswoman Irina and her friend Ivan, who was accused of stealing a light bulb. The men demanded payment of the goods fivefold, threatening them with the police, Sibir.Realii reports.

Ensign of the National Guard Maxim Shishmintsev heard the dispute in raised voices and tried to put handcuffs on Irina. The businesswoman resisted and fell, the officer sat down on her, and then got up, kicked the pregnant woman and sprayed a gas can in her face, eyewitnesses told the publication. After that, the officer detained Ivan, forbidding him to film what was happening.

After the incident, the press secretary Karan explained to journalists that Irina had attacked the officers and that a criminal case had been initiated against her under the relevant article.

The victim filed an application to the ICR’s Investigation Directorate for the Irkutsk Region which initiated a case on abuse of office.
