Drunken police officer caused accident with four dead near Moscow
The man who caused the accident has been arrested and dismissed from law enforcement bodies; preventive measure is currently being selected. His direct management will also resign.
Investigations Department of the Main Investigations Directorate for Pushkino launched a criminal investigation into the accident, which took place September 24 in Pushkino district, Moscow region, at about 7 am.
According to preliminary investigation, the accident that took the life of a married couple, a child born in 2016, and their female relative, was caused by an employee of the Pushkinskoe Moscow University of the Russian Ministry of Interior Affairs, Ivanteevka.
Another two victims, namely a 3-year-old child and 46-year-old perpetrator's passenger, were hospitalized in a nearby hospital.
As reported by the Investigative Committee, the police officer, who in the state of alcoholic intoxication, was driving a Mercedes Benz car along M-8 Kholmogory highway violating the road traffic rules.
At the fault of the wrongdoer, his vehicle collided with Suzuki, the passengers of which were three adults and two children. As a result of a strong blow, car with five people was slammed into the sidelines.
The press service of the regional police department reported that the officer has already been dismissed from the law enforcement bodies. The chief of Ivanteevka municipal district police department and his deputy will also be dismissed.
