Driver who ran over police lieutenant colonel wanted in Tula
Tula region law enforcement bodies have initiated a criminal case into the accident, which claimed the life of a 32-year-old police lieutenant colonel.
According to the investigation, during the night of April 5 to 6 in Kurkovo, Kurkinsky district of the Tula region, an unidentified driver ran over a 32-year-old deputy chief of Kurkinsky Police Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The deceased policeman's body was found in the morning. According to the forensic experts, he died from the injuries at the scene of the accident.
A criminal case under part 3 of Art. 264 of the Russian Criminal Code (Violation of Traffic Rules and Rules for Operation of Transport Vehicles, which has, by negligence, entailed a human death) has been initiated into the accident. Law enforcement bodies are clarifying all the circumstances of the incident and conduct work aimed at identifying the driver responsible for this fatal crash, who fled the scene of the crime, leaving the badly injured policeman die on the road.
UK investigators believe they have identified the suspected perpetrators behind the Novichok nerve agent attack on the Skripals through CCTV and have cross-checked the footage with records of people who entered the country around that time.
