Driver of Russian journalists killed in Africa arrested
The reasons for arrest include concerns for his own security.
Investigators of the Central African Republic (CAR) reported that the driver of the murdered Russians Orkhan Dzhemal, Alexander Rastorguev and Kirill Radchenko is in prison. This is done, among other things, because of security concerns, RIA Novosti was said at the Russian embassy in the CAR.
“He is in prison under the gendarmerie in Bangui. The investigators said that he is still a witness. He is held in custody both to ensure his accessibility in the case of investigative actions, and to ensure his safety, too” the agency quotes the representative of the Russian embassy. According to him, the Russian investigators have not yet arrived in the country, and the date of their arrival is still unknown.
Journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, director Alexander Rastorguev and cameraman Kirill Radchenko died in the CAR on July 30, 2018. They went there to make a documentary about Wagner PMC. According to local press reports, the Muslim paramilitary group Seleka may be involved in their deaths. The Russian Investigative Committee instituted a criminal case under the article on murder.
