Driver of journalists killed in the CAR constantly contacted with gendarme officer associated with Prigozhin
After the journalists were killed, the man was promoted.
In the Central African Republic, gendarme Emmanuel Kotofio called up the driver of killed Russian journalists, who went to shoot a film about the activities of the Wagner PMC in Africa, 40 times, the Dosye center reported. According to the organization, after the attack on the journalists, the gendarme was promoted.
Kotofio underwent military training led by Russian instructors in Sudan and maintained contact with Alexander Sotov, an employee of the company owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is associated with the Wagner PMC. In July-August 2018, Sotov talked more than 100 times by telephone with Valery Zakharov, the adviser to the president of the Central African Republic on national security, who was also associated with Prigozhin.
According to Dosye, the company called M-Finans, allegedly owned by Prigozhin, paid the CAR security minister, the local police director and several other people about $ 5,000 a month for “advisory services.” At that, fixer Martin and the driver contacted the journalists using SIM cards issued for fictional people.
It is to be recalled that on July 31 the information about the murder of the film crew from Russia, Orhan Jemal, Alexander Rastorguev and Kirill Radchenko, in the CAR transpired. They flew into the country as ordinary tourists and were to meet with a certain Martin, whose contact they got from Kirill Romanovsky, a journalist associated with Prigozhin. Upon arrival, the fixer went out of touch. Soon, the journalists’ car was attacked by a group of armed men, whose identities are still unknown. Only the driver survived.
