Deputy Zhigarev’s ex-girlfriend charged with stealing $350k yet left at large
She left the MIA Directorate of Moscow and went to a hospital, where, according to her lawyer, she is being treated.
Investigators of the MIA Directorate of the Central Administrative District of Moscow on July 20 charged model Olga Sintyureva with stealing 22 million rubles ($350 thousand) from the safe at the Marriott hotel, where she met with State Duma deputy Sergey Zhigarev, Kommersant reports citing lawyer Aleksandr Gofshtein.
The lawyer clarified that the accusation was brought under part 4 of Art. 158 of the Russian Criminal Code, which qualifies as theft on a particularly large scale but the defendant did not admit guilt. Gofshtein also notified the investigator that he considers the charge unfounded.
After being charged Olga Sintyureva remained at large. The investigation planned to apply to the court for her arrest, but later on, they left for the 24-year-old accused the previously chosen preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place. The fact is that Sintyureva left the MIA Directorate and went to the hospital, where, according to Gofshtein, she is being treated. The lawyer said that the girl would stay there for a week, but refused to name the medical institution and the diagnosis with which Sintyureva was hospitalized.
Gofshtein states that the investigation involves gross violations of Olga's rights. He has already filed a complaint to the prosecutor's office of the Central Administrative District of Moscow, as well as to Head of the MIA investigation department, Aleksandr Romanov, about the actions of the police, who, according to Sintyureva, used brutal physical force during the arrest.
The criminal case against the photo model was first initiated by the investigative unit of the MIA Directorate of the Arbat district of Moscow, which twice tried to arrest Sintyureva, but due to different reasons, this did not happen. The CrimeRussia previously reported that the main merit in this belongs to Aleksandr Gofshtein – one of the most expensive and famous lawyers in Moscow, whose clients include the co-owner of the group of companies Summa Ziyavudin Magomedov and thief in law Zakhary Kalashov (aka Shakro Molodoy). Sintyureva herself, according to the lawyer, believes that Zhigarev is the one who wants to get her arrested by any means.
According to the investigation, the model stole 22 million rubles ($350 thousand) from the safe in the hotel, where she met with Head of the Committee on Economic Policy and Industry of the State Duma Zhigarev. Kommersant notes that the main evidence in the case is a video recording, which shows how a woman, resembling Sintyureva, is walking along the corridor of the hotel next to the man carrying the box.
To recap, in addition to theft, the police are investigating the case involving the attack on deputy Zhigarev on July 9. The parliamentarian was beaten next to his house. The unknown man pulled him out of the car and hit his face several times. This happened after the deputy met with Sintyureva. Zhigarev helped to draw up the suspect's photo-identification, but that man was not arrested yet.
