Deputy Prosecutor General Sahak Karapetyan perishes at plane crash in Kostroma region
The helicopter flew without permission and crashed two kilometers from the village of Vonyshevo.
During the crash of a helicopter in the Kostroma region, Deputy Prosecutor General Sahak Karapetyan perished. As it became known to The CrimeRussia, the Eurocopter AS 350 B3 helicopter belonged to the Heliport Moscow complex pool, from where it went off the day before. The route was supposed to end off in the village of Spasskoe, which the board did not reach. The helicopter flew without permission and crashed two kilometers from the village of Vonyshevo. The message about the disaster was received by the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Kostroma region at about 6:40 pm Moscow time. There were four people, including Deputy Prosecutor General Sahak Karapetyan, on board. All died.
According to 47news, citing law enforcement agencies in the region, the helicopter was supposedly overloaded, and the flight was delayed due to the fact that the passengers got lost in the forest during the hunt.
According to official data, there were three people on board during the crash. On the fact of the death, the Transport Investigative Committee in the North-West initiated a criminal case under part 3 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules and Operation of Air Transport, resulting in the death of two or more persons).
Sahak Karapetyan held the position of Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia since 2016.
