The explosions in Sri Lanka occurred around 8:45 am local time (6:15 am Moscow time) during the celebration of Easter. Three churches and three hotels were attacked.

The death toll from attacks on churches and luxury hotels across Sri Lanka rose significantly to 290, and about 500 people were also wounded, according to the Hindustan Times.

Sri Lankan authorities have arrested 24 people from the minority Muslim community in connection with the multiple blasts that rocked the island nation on Sunday. It is noted that the detainees are residents, but their possible "ties abroad" are being checked.
